A Faint Taste of Bitter Almonds My name is Lenna, but I more often go by Sherlock.
I enjoy the violin, writing, and forensic science. I still want to live in a charmingly cluttered flat with ugly vintage wallpaper a dubious shade of brown, with my violin Benedict, my guitars Sherlock and Harry Darren-Criss, and many, many books, as well as enough tea to sustain my mortal soul.
Mainly Sherlock Holmes, Doctor Who, Harry Potter, Tintin, and old British comedy, but for a full list go here.
A Slytherin, with Ravenclaw tendencies.
I spam a lot of Vincent van Gogh.

Okay, you've got questions
My Graphics

Anonymous asked: So, I remember that post you made a few months ago saying to the people that you follow to not post gory photos or something like. And I was just wondering how the fuck can you stand to watch Sherlock? Or Harry potter? Or any Tim Burton movie?

You’ve put your finger on the crux of a thorny problem, Anon. I can’t stand to watch Tim Burton movies, or indeed a wide range of films and tv shows which I did previously enjoy or wish to partake in the enjoyment of. I developed these triggers close to this time last year and was a fan of Tim Burton and other things long before having these triggers. I haven’t watched Tim Burton since getting the triggers, apart from I think Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Alice In Wonderland.

As for Harry Potter I already have seen the movies many times over and I know where the triggering scenes will be, so I pull the headphones off and look away until it’s over. With Sherlock I have been triggered by some scenes but have been able to handle others a bit better, especially since now I know when to look away. For some reason I can handle seeing Sherlock covered in blood. I’m fairly certain I can work out the reasoning behind this but it would take me on an irrelevant and rather personal tangent.

With other things I’m usually helped by truly wonderful friends who see things before I do and warn me, or watch things with me and tell me when to look away.

Also to clarify, the post wasn’t by any means asking people not to post the photos. I was asking people to tag things which were obviously gory so that my Tumblr Saviour can actually do its work. People can post what they want to post, I just would appreciate it a whole lot if they’d tag things which are very clearly gory and possibly triggering, such as real photographs of tortured people, dead bodies, close ups of cuts and self harm - all of which have turned up on my dash and haven’t been blocked by Tumblr Saviour because people haven’t tagged them. I don’t expect people to remember to tag things every time, I’d just appreciate the effort a lot.
